Senator Karen Keiser has represented the citizens of the 33rd Legislative District for then past ten years. She first served in the House and was appointed to the Senate in 2002. She ran and was elected to the Senate in November, 2002 and is running for re-election this year. This election cycle, Karen is also serving as chair of the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee.
In the Senate, Karen serves as the Chair of the Health and Long Term Care Committee, and is a member of the Financial Institutions, Housing and Labor and Commerce, Research and Development Committees.
Karen serves as a Board Member for the Judson Park Retirement Community and the Economic Oppotunity Institute and the Washington Coalition for Open Government. She is also a former trustee for the Board at Highline Community College.
Karen has lived in the 33rd District for more than twenty-five years. She has two sons and a daughter, ages 20, 22 and 25. Senator Keiser recently retired as communications director of the Washington State Labor Council. She has a Masters Degree in Journalism from the University of California and is a former journalist.
